Sztravinszkij Rite of Spring

Using an archaic rite of human sacrifice as its framework, Stravinsky’s masterpiece exhibits a rare sensitivity in grasping a desire, the yearning of early 20th century man to experience life in its total intensity. A hundred years after it was first performed, choreographer and director Klaus Obermaier turns to the Rite of Spring, a truly emblematic work of 20th century art, to see how it can give a voice to contemporary man’s experience. Featuring futuristic visuals, this production had its world premiere in 2006.
